I just want to say a massive thank you to the lovely Kym Grosso; I was over-joyed when asked to read this book. I had already been very impatiently waiting to read it so this just made it all the sweeter.
I absolutely adored the first book in this series (Kade's Dark Embrace), and this book was just as brilliant.
It was great to get to see Kade and Sydney again and knowing they plan to marry soon was wonderful.
We briefly met the heroine, Samantha, in the first book. She had been taken by an evil witch and forced to do his bidding, no matter how degrading or disgusting. Luckily (in my opinion) she doesn't actually remember the worst of it, which might actually be better for her.
I thought Samantha was an amazing heroine. She was so strong, always knew what she wanted and wasn't about to let anyone push her around or make her do anything she didn't want to. But on the other hand she was sensible and knew when people were trying to help her or keep her safe. In those instances she just did as asked. I wanted to shout for joy, thank God we finally get a heroine who isn't stupid and runs head first into a danger that she had been warned about ten times already. It was so refreshing.
Now, I had already fallen in love with Luca, so I wasn't surprised when my love for him just swelled whilst reading his story.
Luca is strong, sexy, lethal, charming and best of all, a hell of a lot of fun. And well, the kinky stuff didn't hurt either. LOL
I just quickly want to say that... Holy crap, Kym, you write a damn good sex scene!
I loved his determination to help Samantha, to make sure she was safe. Seeing them together at the cabin was so sweet. I liked that Samantha convinced him to skinny dip
because we saw such a different side to him, relaxed and care-free. I just wish that had lasted longer.
I won't lie, at time the romance did seem a little bit rushed, like they were moving way too fast, and the HEA was really happy and fluffy, which usually annoys me. But it kinda just worked here, and you expect things to move a little faster in shorter novels. But those minor problems were it for me, the rest was great.
Now Tristan is just... my perfect man. I know it's awful, but I still think I love him more than Kade, and even Luca. *ducking* LOL
I don't know what it is about that wolf, but as soon as he comes into a scene, I cannot stop smiling. He just makes me laugh and is outrageously charming and flirtatious. "You're jealous. And you know what that means, my friend? Oh yeah, that's right my man, you're developing feelings. That icy excuse for a heart beating in your chest is starting to melt."
"No, no, no."
Luca protested."Yes, yes, yes. Let the Alpha guess what happened. Hmmm. Let's see..."
I could kiss you, Kym, for writing his book next. I really cannot wait to read about him and learn more about his sister Kat and all the other wolves.
Leopold was, for me, a real mystery. We know he is Kade's maker, but that's about it. I loved the way he told Samantha that he would've loved pursuing her if Luca had died. Awkward much? LOL
He's so dark, dangerous and powerful. I really hope we get to see him again.
The storyline of the Amulet was absolutely fascinating. But I think it was made even better for me because I would almost cut off a limb to be able to go to New Orleans. So getting to see some of the famous places/landmarks in this story was, for me, amazing.
It was also lovely to read a book with such great editing. Of course, I could have missed some mistakes, if there were any. But I have read a lot of books with repeated mistakes recently and although I can over-look it, this book was like a breath of fresh air, in that respect. Just thought I'd say :)
Well, I think I've covered everything I wanted to say. I'll round this up by saying again that I cannot wait to read book three in this series, and am sad that that won't be until next year :(
And lastly, again a huge thanks again to Kym Grosso. You're awesome. Reply
